Three postdoctoral research associate (or when appropriate research scientist) positions are available for joining an established interdisciplinary research group based in the Center for Atomically Precise Fabrication of Solid-State Quantum Devices at the University of Texas at Dallas.
The researchers will work at the intersection of STM-based lithography, MEMS design, control engineering, and high-precision mechatronics. The goal of this project is to develop a novel platform technology for high-throughput and high-speed atomically precision lithography for fabrication of silicon quantum devices.
The successful candidates will have the opportunity to participate in a host of theoretical and experimental projects, supervise graduate and undergraduate researchers, write reports and manuscripts, attend international conferences, prepare proposals and work closely with collaborating groups and industry.
The applicants should have (or be close to completing) a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Experimental Physics or a closely related field. They are expected to have experience in one of the following areas.
STM-based lithography: The candidate should have a strong background in scanning tunnelling microscopy. Previous experience with UHV STM is a requirement. Experience with Silicon is a plus.
MEMS: The candidate should have experience with MEMS design, characterization and microfabrication in a cleanroom environment and be able to design interface electronic circuits for MEMS transducers.
Control and high-precision mechatronics: The candidate should have a strong analytical background, be familiar with advanced control design methods and have demonstrated experience with real-time control implementation for laboratory or full-scale mechatronic systems.
