The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine seeks a full-time Research Associate or Postdoctoral Fellow position in the laboratory of Dr. Serdar Bulun. The Bulun Laboratory group’s overall research interest is to investigate the mechanisms underlying hormone-dependent reproductive disease development. Our group uses state-of-the-art technics including mouse models, cell culture systems, and powerful genome-wide analysis in our research studies, with parallel collaborations with our clinical colleagues in reproductive medicine.
Qualifications: The ideal candidate should have a PhD and is self-motivated with a strong work ethic, creative, and open to address new research challenges. The fellow is expected to independently design and conduct projects under the supervision of Dr. Bulun. Candidates with a strong background in the following areas are encouraged to apply: reproductive science, mouse handling skills, primary cell culture, RNA-seq, ChIP-seq, and modern statistical approaches/bioinformatics. For prompt consideration, please submit your application to Dr. Bulun (firstname.lastname@example.org) with the following information: (1) Cover letter; (2) Curriculum vitae; and (3) Contact details of three referees.
Research associates typically hold the PhD, MD or equivalent terminal degree in their discipline; have received equivalent professional recognition; or have demonstrated exceptional artistic abilities. They are primarily involved in laboratory (rather than clinical) research, although they are not principal investigators except with the written approval of the vice president for research. They are not members of the faculty and are ineligible for tenure. Research associates may be appointed for a term of up to three years.
Postdoctoral fellows are individuals with recently granted degrees of PhD or MD or the equivalent terminal degree who are primarily involved in continuing post graduate education or training in conducting research. Postdoctoral fellows are normally paid through the university payroll system and are research staff appointments.
