Project: small molecule acceptors for organic solar cells
King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) is a graduate university with a diverse community on the shores of the Red Sea, Saudi Arabia. Prof. Baran’s research group OMEGALAB (http://omegalabresearch.com) focus on engineering smart materials for energy harvesting devices such as solar cells and thermoelectrics located in a 3000 m2 lab space area in KAUST Solar Center.
We are seeking an exceptional research associate to work on small molecule acceptors for organic photovoltaics, where the successful candidate will be a member of Omegalab and mentored by Prof. Baran. The competitive candidate should hold a PhD degree in Chemistry, Physics or Engineering and have a combined expertise in device physics, solution processed solar cells and device fabrication, have a great proven publication track record, and excellent oral and written communications skills in English. The candidate will be a team player dedicated to attaining first-authored publications in high-impact journals and cultivating skills as a colleague and also as a mentor, devoting a portion of their time to mentoring graduate students in the group and developing new research directions.
The project involves fundamental understanding of small molecule acceptor solar cells in terms of recombination, voltage limitations, and stability for record device efficiencies. It includes multiple international partners, which allows the candidate to be as visiting research scientist in the respected labs.
Applications are sought for an anticipated 2-year position (the initial appointment will be for 1 year, with reappointment for a 2nd year contingent on performance). The position will include a competitive salary based on the candidate’s qualifications; other benefits include medical and dental insurance, free furnished housing on the KAUST campus, annual paid vacation, and other generous benefits within KAUST policies.
Applications including CV and list of publications should be sent before 1st June 2019 , to Prof. Derya Baran ( email@example.com ) at KAUST. Please list 2 referees who have confirmed that they are willing to supply letters of reference upon request.
