Research Assistant (Post-doc)
The full-time position is offered for a period of 3 years, if no former times of qualification must be considered, and is with salary and benefits commensurate with a public service position in the state Hesse, Germany (TV-H E 13, 100 %). The starting date is as soon as possible.
Duties include academic services in research and education, animal experiments (e. g. in-vivo treatments, organ digestion, pulmonary function tests, bronchoalveloar lavages) with disease-relevant animal models (e. g. asthma, viral respiratory tract infections) and immunological methods (e. g. FACS, ELISA, CBA), cell culture experiments (e. g. antigen stimulation, proliferation assays, ELISPOTs) and molecular methods (e. g. DNA/RNA extraction, qRT-PCR, TCRseq). Additionally, the training of new doctoral- and MSc degree- students and the contribution to epidemiological cohort studies (cross-sectional and longitudinal) in the field of non-communicable diseases, including asthma and COPD, are also expected.
The position will be filled by a temporary contract that is limited to the period which is necessary to gain further scientific expertise (such as the preparation for a subsequent qualification period). Within the entrusted tasks the opportunity for independent scientific work to obtain further personal qualification is given. The limitation of the contract complies to § 2 Abs. 1 WissZeitVG.
The successful applicant will hold a MSc degree or equivalent in Biology, a Dr/PhD degree (or a proof of a well-advanced doctoral thesis) and publications in international peer-reviewed journals. Sound knowledge in immunology and experience in the use of disease-relevant animal models for asthma and allergies, including related biological analyses, and the application of cellular, molecular and (epi-)genetic test methods is expected. We also expect the independent design, conduction and analysis of innovative immunological studies. Experiences in statistical analyses, mass spectrometry (CyTOF), the conduction of cohort studies and fluent English and German skills are also desirable. Applicants should be aiming at personal scientific qualifications (e. g. in the field of immunology).
