Salary: Grade 6: £28,660 - £34,189 p.a.
We are seeking a Research Assistant to join Experimental Medicine with responsibility for the provision of research support for a discrete area of a small project that is focused around DNA viruses (with a particular focus on cytomegalovirus) in immunosuppressed cohorts. This work looks to correlate viral evolution within the host alongside host immune responses. The role is primarily based at the Peter Medawar Building, Oxford. The postholder will report to the Principal Investigator, Julia Colston, and the Programme Supervisor/Director, Paul Klenerman.
As a Research Assistant, the role will involve interfacing with the clinical microbiology laboratory at the John Radcliffe Hospital for sample acquisition, processing and storage of samples within the Peter Medawar Building and preparation of samples for next generation sequencing in collaboration with laboratories in Oxford and UCL, London.
You will hold a degree within a biomedical subject and possess sufficient specialist knowledge in the discipline to work within established research programmes.
The post is full-time and fixed-term for up to 1 year in the first instance, looking to commence in August 2019.
