The Health Experiences Research Group (HERG), Nuffield Department of Primary Care Health Sciences, University of Oxford is offering an excellent opportunity for a highly motivated and enthusiastic junior researcher interested in developing a career in social science and health research.
It is intended that the position will allow the postholder to gain an in-depth understanding of qualitative health research through working within an established and successful research group (led by Professor Sue Ziebland). The postholder will manage their own research and administrative activities; contribute to research publications and wider project planning; gather, analyse and present research findings; and represent the research group at external meetings/seminars. The postholder will be provided with training to develop their research skills and experience as they work as a research assistant across a range of qualitative projects and tasks.
The ideal candidate would demonstrate an interest in pursuing a doctorate as a subsequent career step. The position is not suitable for researchers who already hold a doctorate. You will hold a good first degree in a relevant subject and preferably have recently completed an MSc; have a proven interest in qualitative health research and knowledge of qualitative research methods; proven ability to communicate effectively with a wide audience; a high level of computer literacy; proven ability to work as part of a team and autonomously; ability to prioritise and schedule workload and the willingness to undertake training in relevant research skills.
You will be based in the Nuffield Department of Primary Care Health Sciences, Radcliffe Primary Care Building, Woodstock Road, Oxford and will report to the HERG Operations Manager Dr Martin.
The position is funded by the HERG programme of courses on qualitative research, for 12 months until 30 September 2020.
