For over 50 years our research has saved lives. We have broken new ground, revolutionised treatments and transformed care. But heart and circulatory disease still kills one in four people in the UK. That is why we need you.
The British Heart Foundation (BHF) is the UK’s largest independent funder of cardiovascular research; with an annual research spend of around £100 million in new grants, our Research team plays a pivotal role in bringing our research strategy to life.
About the role
Through our portfolio of around 1000 active research projects, we fund some of the most exciting and innovative cardiovascular research and the most talented scientists from PhD students to BHF Professors. We award grants by peer review, working with external referees and five grant committees.
We have an exciting opportunity to join our Research team as a Research Advisor and play an active role in supporting the work of our research grant committees, by providing scientific input throughout the research grant evaluation and delivery process
Working with other members of the Research team, you will make an essential contribution to the organisation and delivery of pre-committee peer review and post-committee applicant feedback. You will also liaise with other areas of the BHF including Communications, Policy, Strategy and Fund Raising to disseminate information on funded projects and their outcomes.
You will have a PhD or equivalent degree in bioscience and knowledge and understanding of scientific and clinical careers and the work of the BHF, specifically in relation to research.
Knowledge of the national and international cardiovascular research landscape and the challenges and opportunities within this area will be an advantage.
You will have excellent communication and organisational skills and ensure that key deadlines are met.
You will serve as an ambassador for the BHF and its research achievements, promoting the BHF and its research funding schemes.
This is an outstanding opportunity for a motivated person with suitable experience and interests to make an important contribution to the primary mission of one of the world’s leading funders of cardiovascular research.
When you work at the BHF, you become a part of medical history. Part of a world leading organisation that has played a role in decades of life saving breakthroughs, from heart transplants and pacemakers to stents and clot busting drugs. And we’re not about to stop any time soon. We are here to beat heartbreak forever; to stop heart and circulatory diseases devastating families. And if you want to help us get there sooner, you could be the Delivery Manager we need.
