Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for a temporary fixed term position as a Postdoctoral Researcher with expertise in electrical engineering to work as the Technical Lead on an Enterprise Ireland funded project at the National University of Ireland, Galway. This position is available from 1 March 2020 for 21 months.
The role is part of the Commercialisation Fund project in NUI Galway working on the development of a novel neutrophil monitoring device. This is an exciting opportunity to join with the team at design phase.
The successful candidate will work with the existing team in leading the process of an initial sensor design for a new medical device. The sensor will involve embedded systems design and microfluidics. The candidate should have general research and development skills such as data analysis, experimental design, and experience developing electronic-based technologies. The candidate should also display a high level of competence in electronic circuit design, signal processing and relevant languages such as MATLAB or Python.
PhD in Electrical Engineering or equivalent industry experience;
Embedded electronic design experience;
Medical device development experience;
RF Sensor design and experience.
Experience with RF simulation software;
Experience with signal processing software (MATLAB , Octave or Pyton)
Electronic circuit design;
RF analogue design and testing experience.
RF simulation software: Alitum PCB Designer, HFSS, CST;
Medical Device development within a Quality System.
VNA and test measurement knowledge;
Dielectric Properties suite experience.
Salary: €37,874 to €38,418 per annum (public sector pay policy rules pertaining to new entrants will apply).
Start date: Position is available from 1st March 2020
