The positions for postdoctoral researchers are available in Dr. Sifan Chen lab and Dr. Zilun Li lab, which is a jointly collaborated team located in Sun Yat-Sen University affiliated Hospital in Guangzhou, P. R. China. The ideal postdoctoral candidates should be highly motivated, independent, and dedicated in science. Strong background in molecular biology and/or mice research experience in metabolic diseases are encouraged; First-author-paper published in decent journals are preferred.
Dr. Sifan Chen received his PhD in Heidelberg University in Germany (major in Molecular Biology of Cell) and conducted the postdoctoral research in Harvard Medical School affiliated Boston Children’s Hospital in USA (major in Endocrinology and Metabolism). As a group leader, Dr. Chen is interested in investigation of the molecular mechanism of metabolic diseases such as diabetes, obesity and cardiovascular diseases (publications: Chen et al, Cell Metabolism, 2019; Chen et al, Molecular Cell, 2013; Chen et al, Nature Communications, 2016), as well as related clinical drug development or nutritional intervention (Chen et al, J Nutri Biochem, 2012; Chen et al, BBRC, 2015). The current projects available in Dr. Chen lab are focused on: 1) the regulation of epigenetic factors (i.e., lncRNA; histone, DNA, or RNA modifications, etc) in metabolic diseases; 2) the regulation of gut microbiota in diabetes and associated complications; 3) the regulation of Sirtuins in insulin resistance. Multifarious techniques and tools will be involved including in vitro cell culture, in vivo transgenic mouse study, as well as human patient samples analysis.
Dr. Li received his MD/PhD in Sun Yat-Sen University in China and was jointly trained in Mayo Clinic in USA. Dr. Li has published a list of first-authored papers in the journals including Autophagy, Hypertension, Arterioscler Thromb Vasc Biol, Cell Death Dis, Am J Physiol Heart Circ Physiol, etc. The research in his group was focused on the mechanisms of atherosclerosis and peripheral vascular diseases. The projects available currently in his lab are on: 1) application of chemical compounds targeting specific molecules for prevention and/or treatment of atherosclerosis; 2) investigating the regulatory role of epigenetics, autophagy, etc in lower limp ischemia.
The labs of Dr. Chen and Dr. Li are highly coordinated. Interested candidates are welcome to contact Dr. Chen directly via emailing to: firstname.lastname@example.org, and/or contact Dr. Li via email: email@example.com. Please also submit your CV and cover letter indicating personal research interests. The salary is highly competitive in market. All relevant details could be further communicated during interview if candidates are selected. Please feel free to contact the PI if you have interests in application.
