Platinum Discovery (PD) (https://www.pt-discovery.com) is a subsidiary of Platinum Informatics that provides next generation, multidimensional proteomics and big data informatics solutions as a Contract Research Organisation (CRO). PD operates an innovative, end-to-end technology platform, combining start of the art, large-scale mass spectrometry-based proteomics with novel assay formats and custom-built data analytics and visualisation tools. PD provides a unique CRO service for Biotech and Pharma companies, encompassing consulting on experimental design and planning, cell & molecular biology, sample processing, mass spectrometry and poly-omics analysis, together with a comprehensive data processing pipeline combined with data analysis and interpretation services.
About the Position
Platinum Discovery is looking to recruit a highly motivated data scientist to join our growing team. The vacancy is suitable for an experienced proteomics researcher looking to transition from academia into the biotech sector. The candidate should have relevant prior experience, ideally including experimental design of proteomics projects (e.g. DDA/DIA based studies analysing proteins and post-translational protein modifications) and should be familiar with the analysis and interpretation of quantitative proteomics data. The successful candidate must be able to work both independently and as part of a team and must have excellent communication skills. The role will include liaising with clients to advise on the design of experiments and analysis of MS-based proteomics data, together with preparation of reports and data interpretation. An ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate excellent computational skills and will bring to the role broad experience of working with large and complex data sets and in using a wide range of analytical procedures. The position is based in Dundee, UK. In exceptional circumstances we may consider also applicants who require remote working.
The Role will Involve:

Qualifications and experience:
- Experience at PhD/postdoctoral level with processing proteomics data
- Experience with large scale data analysis
- In depth knowledge of statistics
- Computational skills (experience scripting in R or python)
- Available for occasional UK / International travel
- Impeccable attention to detail
- Highly organised and meticulous
- Ability to meet deadlines and work as part of a team
- Experience in pathway analysis
- Experience with cluster computing
