The School of Biological Sciences is part of the Faculty of Medicine, Health and Life Sciences. It is made up of three research disciplines, including Ecosystems Biology & Sustainability, Food Safety & Nutrition, and Microbes & Pathogen Biology. Many staff within the School are also members of the Institute for Global Food Security GRI: the Institute is ranked No 1 in the UK for research intensity in Agriculture, Veterinary and Food Sciences (REF 2014).

We are recruiting for a Project Manager who will provide specialist project management expertise to ensure successful development of the Irish Nutrient Sustainability Platform, and the QUB and NUI-Galway alliance. The project manager will develop and implement the Irish Nutrient Sustainability Platform and processes to support the development of the Alliance including communication and marketing. The successful candidate will identify and recruit relevant stakeholders as paid members of the Platform; implement, coordinate, promote and deliver Platform activities to include workshops, conferences and stakeholder engagement events. While the Project Manager will be in the School of Biological Sciences they will work with colleagues from both QUB and NUIG collaboratively to deliver the project. Some travel between sites will be required.

The successful candidate must have:
• A University Degree or equivalent in a relevant area
• At least 3 years’ recent relevant experience to include:
¬ Planning and delivering projects on time and within budget.
¬ Stakeholder/partner management and programme reporting
¬ Leading multi-disciplinary teams and managing people
¬ Using formal project management techniques to deliver successful projects
• Experience of managing budgets and resources and an understanding of financial management procedures
• Experience of managing events/workshops
• Knowledge and understanding of nutrient sustainability issues

The post is available until 12 months with possibility of extension.
