Darmstadt University of Technology (TU Darmstadt)

Professorship (W3) for Sustainable Functional Polymers

Darmstadt University of Technology (TU Darmstadt)

Darmstadt, Germany

The Department for Chemistry at the Technical University of Darmstadt (Germany) invites applications for a position as

Professorship (W3) for Sustainable Functional Polymers

(Code No. 142)

to be occupied from winter semester 2020/21.

The Department is seeking an internationally recognized individual with an attractive research focus on controlled polymerization for functional polymer synthesis. Sustainability aspects should be taken into account. This may, amongst others, include the use of natural, biogenic building blocks, a more sustainable design of controlled polymerization
processes to functional polymers, and/or a possible focus on polymer degradation with a view to circular material cycles and recycling.

The research area is in particular expected to become a major player in the Chemistry Department’s research focus on polymer materials as well as within interdisciplinary cooperations, especially with regard to materials and engineering sciences as well as with the Fraunhofer Institute for Durability and System Reliability (LBF). A link to the profile areas of the Technical University of Darmstadt and the network of Rhine-Main Universities is advantageous.

The candidate will participate in the teaching of Bachelor (in German language) and Master programs. Especially participation in the teaching program of Macromolecular Chemistry in the Department of Chemistry is expected.

The position is tenured with a remuneration package commensurate with experience and qualifications, following the German “W-Besoldung” and subject to negotiations between the applicant and the university directorate. The regulations for employment are specified under §§ 61 and 62 HHG (Hessisches Hochschulgesetz).

The Technische Universität Darmstadt intends to increase the number of female faculty members and encourages female candidates to apply. In case of equal qualifications applicants with a degree of disability of at least 50 or equal will be given preference. The Technische Universität Darmstadt is certified as a family-friendly university and offers a dual career program.

For any inquiries prior to application, please contact Prof. Dr. Annette Andrieu-Brunsen (annette.andrieu-brunsen@tu-darmstadt.de), Macromolecular Chemistry, Department for Chemistry, TU Darmstadt. Applications including the usual documents and five selected publications should refer to the outlined code-no. Applications should be sent in electronic form as a single PDF to the Dean of the Faculty of Chemistry, Prof. Dr. Harald Kolmar (dekan@chemie.tu-darmstadt.de), Alarich-Weiss-Straße 4, D-64287 Darmstadt.

Application deadline: April 30, 2020
