At Jena University Hospital a 

Professorship (W3) for Neurology (successor to Prof. Dr. Otto W. Witte)

is to be filled from next possible date.

This professorship is associated with the head of the Clinic of Neurology. The person to be appointed (m/f/d) should represent the subject in research, teaching, and medical services. He/she should have an outstanding international reputation in one of the three subject areas: vascular neurology, neurodegeneration, neuroimmunology. The applicant should strengthen the research foci of the faculty (sepsis and infection, aging and age related diseases, medical optics and photonics. Jena is on site of the German Center for Mental Health. The appointee has to support the respective activities (www.c-i-r-c.de).

In order to be eligible for the position, candidates must have a completed degree in medicine, a board certification of Neurology, pedagogical aptitude, a particular aptitude for academic work demonstrated by a doctorate as well as a Habilitation or equivalent academic achievements. The candidate should have an outstanding track record in publications and extramurally funded research. Participation in aquisition of collaborative projects is expected.

We are looking for a person with strong scientific leadership qualities and administrative skills. Furthermore, sensitivity and openness to economic matters and participation in the development process of JUH and a close cooperation with the neighbouring subjects are expected. In accordance with the decision of the German Ministers of Cultural Affairs (Kultusministerkonferenz) of November 19, 1999, the responsibilities regarding clinical care will be regulated by a separate contract establishing a performance-based pay with constant and variable components.
