At the Faculty of Chemistry and Earth Sciences of the Friedrich Schiller University Jena, a
Professorship (W3) for Chemistry of Materials for Energy Applications
will be filled.
We seek a highly qualified personality with experience in the Chemistry of Materials for Energy Applications. Successful candidates (m/f/o) will build an innovative research program in the areas of e. g. storage materials, catalysts, or electrodes, will pursue innovative electrochemical concepts in chemical engineering (such as alternative battery concepts, fuel cells), or investigate the synthesis and/or storage of chemical energy carriers (e. g. H2). Further possible research areas are electrocatalysis or the synthesis and characterization of functional materials for energy applications.
The professorship is affiliated with the Institute of Technical Chemistry and Environmental Chemistry, will become a member of the CEEC Jena, and shall complement and stimulate existing strengths. Jena offers a highly attractive research environment with an integrative network of physical and life science research groups that is characterized by close cooperation between the university and external research institutes. It is expected that the professorship will actively contribute to shaping the Faculty’s profile and will extend and intensify collaboration.
A habilitation degree or equivalent scientific qualifications are mandatory for employment, as well as leadership competencies. Successful acquisition of third-party funding and ability to teach are required. The professorship will be appointed permanently as a civil servant if the necessary legal conditions are met. Adequate contributions to university teaching in relevant study courses of the faculty are expected. Pertinent representation of the subject in all chemical study courses and additional contributions to university teaching in major and minor subjects are expected, as well as teaching contributions in German and English language.
Friedrich Schiller University aims at increasing participation of women in research and teaching and therefore specifically encourages qualified female researchers to apply. Equally qualified applicants with disabilities will be given preference.
For information on the procedures please contact the dean of the Faculty of Chemistry and Earth Sciences, Prof. Dr. Alexander Brenning (firstname.lastname@example.org).
Applications in German or English language with the necessary supporting documents (letter of motivation, curriculum vitae, copies of academic certificates, documentation of teaching experience including evaluation reports, full publication list, five copies of representative research papers, list of research funding, research plan) are to be submitted electronically in a single pdf-file until March 31, 2020 to:
