Professorship W2 (5 years / tenure track) in Biological Therapies of the Inner Ear (salaryscale W2)
The professorship is initially limited to 5 years, but will then be tenured following a successful
evaluation of the scientific merits. The professorship shall strengthen the existing research area ofinner ear therapies and involves the following subjects:
- Investigation of biological mechanisms, especially inflammatory processes, on cellular level
- Manipulation of regulatory processes on cellular level
- Use of different types of stem cells or components to induce desired biological effects
- Development of procedures for stem cell transplantation
- Gene therapy of sensorineural hearing loss.
The successful candidate shall be able to perform experiments in cell culture and animals as well as clinical studies.
The research field is highly interdisciplinary and links medicine to biology, genetics and physics. The candidate must be a board-certified otolaryngologist with special expertise in the field of inner ear surgery and cochlear implantation. He/she must be fluent in German. The candidate must have proven research expertise in the field of biological therapies, especially cell therapy of the inner ear, and must be highly experienced in research involving cell cultures and animal models.
With an excellent record in research and teaching to date, prospective candidates will have demonstrated the potential for an outstanding academic career. He/she shall contribute to teaching and academic education for graduates and postgraduate students and mentor them within the frame of existing Master and PhD study programs of Hannover Medical School and the Cluster of Excellence.The successful candidate shall be qualified in leadership, team orientated and practice a communication oriented management style.
