The Medical Faculty of the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms University of Bonn is offering a permanent position for a
Professorship in Psychiatric Genomics and Epigenomics (W2)
The position is to be filled as soon as possible.
The successful candidate will represent the field of Genomics and Epigenomics in teaching, research, and patient care at the Department of Psychiatry and Psychotherapy. Prerequisites for employment are a habilitation or an equivalent scientific qualification according to Paragraph 36 of the Higher Education Act of North Rhine Westphalia; experience in student teaching; and recognition as a medical specialist in psychiatry and / or medical genetics, or an equivalent level of educational achievement.
The candidate should be recognized internationally as a specialist in the molecular genomics and / or epigenomics of psychiatric disorders. Corresponding publications and the acquisition of third-party funding are assumed. A convincing concept for the translation of genetic findings into the clinical management of psychiatric patients and their families is expected (e.g., in the form of a multidisciplinary genetic counseling clinic for psychiatric patients and their families). Proficiency in German is required.
The professorship is intended to strengthen the faculty’s research foci of neuroscience and genetics & epidemiology. Another important area of scientific collaboration will be with the research focus immunology & infectious disease, since immune-related genes are implicated in many psychiatric disorders. Close cooperation with the Institute of Human Genetics is expected. The Institute of Human Genetics will provide all necessary laboratory space.
