The Faculty of Mathematics, Informatics and Natural Science invites applications for a
PROFESSORSHIP FOR MATHEMATICS, WITH A FOCUS ON COMPLEX ANALYTIC GEOMETRY
commencing as soon as possible, ref. no. 2315/W3.
The successful candidate is expected to teach and conduct research in the field. Candidates should have a proven track record in exceptional, internationally recognized research in the field of complex and/or algebraic geometry. The field of research should meaningfully contribute to existing research being conducted in the Department of Mathematics. Collaboration with the Center for Mathematical Physics (Zentrum für Mathematische Physik, ZMP) is desired. Duties include the participation in the Quantum Universe federal cluster of excellence.
We further expect the candidate to contribute to undergraduate teaching in all degree programs in the Department of Mathematics and to participate actively in the instruction of students pursuing a teaching degree in the respective discipline.
Section 12 subsection 7 sentence 2 of the Hamburg higher education act (Hamburgisches Hochschulgesetz, HmbHG) applies.

Applicants are expected to have international research experience as well as a successful track record in acquiring external funding and carrying out externally funded projects. The University places particular emphasis on the quality of teaching and therefore requests that applicants provide details of their teaching experience and objectives.
The post holder is expected to acquire the language skills necessary to teach in German (Level C1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages) within two years of commencing employment providing he or she does not have the requisite skills when starting.
Following hearings, selected candidates will be assessed to ascertain skills in the areas of management and human resources.
