The Department of Pediatrics at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences (USU) in Bethesda, Maryland seeks a qualified candidates for an Associate/Full Professor (tenure ineligible track) position to serve as Vice-Chairperson for Research. The Department of Pediatrics is committed to improving the health and readiness of the entire military family through excellence in pediatric medicine, the promotion of child health during peace and war, and research that improves the lives of children and the readiness of service members by addressing dual threats relevant to both. The Department of Pediatrics maintains an academic environment strongly supporting productive basic science and clinical research endeavors, fostering academic excellence through skilled faculty and innovative ethical clinician-scientist.

Duties: The incumbent serves as an Associate or Full Professor in the Department of Pediatrics, and as such will be responsible for teaching, research, administrative assignments. Scholarly activities, and patient care. Incumbent will shape the scope, relevance, and impact of the Departments research programs to address the priorities of USU and the Department of Defense.

Qualifications: The incumbent must bring to this position a minimum of a M.D. degree or D.O. degree, valid unrestricted state medical license, and current board certification in Pediatrics and/or a subspecialty

The position requires: substantial experience and national recognition in medical research, development, and medical education. The following experience is highly desirable: experience working with federal or military health care organizations, educational programs, or health care systems, and substantial experience within the existing research area of the Department, Specifically critical care, resuscitative medicine, infectious disease, oncology, health systems research & epidemiology, and health of military children. The successful candidate must be academically qualified for a faculty appointment at the Associate or Full Professor level in accordance with USUHS academic guidelines.
