The Johannes Kepler University Linz invites applications for a permanent position under private law for a
Professor of Experimental Physics
to begin immediately. The appointment is in accordance with § 98 of the Austrian Universities Act. An evaluation of the professorship will take place after 5 years.
The successful candidate is expected to conduct and pursue outstanding high-quality and internationally visible research.
The academic area of specialization of the professorship should fit with the existing activities of the Physics Department in the areas of soft matter and/or biological and biologically inspired materials. Ideally, the research fields shall be predominantly from the area of experimental physics and shall include several of the following fields:
- Physical properties and dynamics of polymeric or molecular systems
- Functional materials for applications in sensing, bioelectronics or soft robotics
- Functional adaption and optimisation of biomolecular or biomimetic machines
- Design and engineering of functional biopolymers
The successful candidate for the professorship position is expected to develop a research strategy aimed at cross-departmental collaboration with groups at the Faculty of Engineering & Natural Sciences, Medicine, the Linz Institute of Technology (LIT), as well as together with research groups in Austria and abroad.
Applicants for the position must have a venia docendi (habilitation-degree) or a comparable qualification. An adequate participation in research foci and curricula of the JKU as well as in the university self-governance is expected.

A gross salary above the minimum amount (currently € 71.822,80, as stated in the collective agreement) will be voluntarily offered subject to negotiation.
