Azeria Therapeutics Limited, Cambridge UK
Azeria Therapeutics (https://www.azeriatherapeutics.com/) is a start-up biotech company with a focus on developing innovative new cancer medicines by targeting transcription factors. Our small molecule drug discovery approaches emanate from ground-breaking research in the laboratory of Dr Jason Carroll in the CRUK Cambridge Institute on the Cambridge Biomedical Campus (www.carroll-lab.org.uk). Azeria was founded in March 2017 and our translational bioscience research is conducted in modern well-equipped labs in the same building as the Carroll laboratory.
We seek a Principal Scientist to join our Bioscience Team to drive the translation of our innovative target identification platform into ‘first in class’ therapies for the treatment of cancer. The successful applicant will own and progress cell-based and in vivo pharmacology studies for biology targets revealed by innovative RIME-based approaches discovered, developed and exemplified in the Carroll laboratory (https://www.nature.com/articles/s41467-018-04619-5). We seek a molecular biologist with at least 2 years’ post-doctoral experience in hypothesis-driven studies, to further examine the role of our identified biological targets in the initiation and progression of cancer. Knowledge and experience of transcription factor and hormone-dependent cancer biology is highly desirable, but not essential. The role will involve extensive collaboration with the Carroll laboratory and with our network of expert partners to progress our drug discovery projects through proof-of-concept in vivo studies and beyond.
The successful applicant will be expected to accelerate progress in biology understanding of at least one drug discovery target through their own initiative and independent practical laboratory contribution. They will also be expected to constructively contribute both intellectually and practically, as time allows, to other Azeria Projects. The role reports to an Associate Director of Discovery Biology and will work closely with the current team of cancer biologists in a highly integrated working environment.
Applicants must have a PhD in biological sciences and at least 2 years Post-Doctoral experience in a translational research-based laboratory environment. You will be highly organised and an excellent communicator with a flexible and cooperative approach to working in a team environment.
This permanent, full time position is based at the CRUK Cambridge Institute (https://www.cruk.cam.ac.uk) with travel to partner CROs, collaborators and consultants as required. The successful applicant will be offered a competitive salary based on experience.
Applicants must be able to demonstrate proof of the right to work in the United Kingdom.
Applicants must include a covering letter with a description of their background and interest in the role, a one-page research summary for each of their PhD and Post-Doctoral studies highlighting their independent contributions and impacts, and a curriculum vitae including publications, manuscripts in preparation and contact details for at least two referees
