Preclinical Scientist- Assay Development
MiroBio is a recently launched biologics company with a mission to treat a range of autoimmune and inflammatory disorders. The company is founded by leading immunologists at the University of Oxford who have spent over 15yrs focussed on understanding the mechanisms which underlie T-cell signalling. The technology is based on an IP portfolio of novel antibodies with the ability to activate inhibitory co-receptors on the surface of immune cells, with a deep mechanistic understanding, MiroBio is able to optimise these antibodies to create immune-modulatory therapies which have shown remarkable efficacy in preclinical models of disease. MiroBio is now building out the team and the platform, looking for strong antibody-development expertise to take the lead compounds to clinical proof-of-concept.
MiroBio is a well-funded spin-out from Oxford University. The company is based in Oxford, retaining close links to the world-class immunology expertise and clinical trial experience within the University.

We are looking for a senior assay scientist to help propel our novel therapeutic antibodies from discovery to the clinic. The post holder will generate the molecular assays required to take novel antibodies through the various stages of pre-clinical development. The recruit will have responsibility for ensuring assays are available when needed and can be transferred to external contractors. This role will allow the scientist to acquire a comprehensive overview of therapeutic antibody discovery and development. A focus on detail and quality are important for this role. Strong communication skills and adaptability are also requirements for this position.
• Development and implementation of immuno-assays to support antibody CMC and PK/PD work
• Measurement of antibody binding to proteins and cells across multiple species
Development of biomarker approaches and assays
• Analysis of antibody structure and stability for developability
• To work with external contractors and consultants to outsource pre-clinical studies. Technology transfer assays to external CMC, safety and bio-analytics contractors
Role qualification and requirements:
PhD in Biochemistry/Pharmacology with an immunology background
3+ years in a biotech role in preclinical antibody development. Validated experience in developing immunoassays to support therapeutic antibody programs.
Hands-on experience of ELISA approaches. Experience of multi-colour flow cytometry a plus.
Familiarity with immune cell-based assays a plus
Experience of working with external contractors and collaborators.
Experience in the preparation of preclinical documentation to support regulatory submissions.
