We are seeking a motivated individual with significant laboratory experience operating high-resolution mass spectrometers. As such, you will play an integral role in ongoing biomarker research and exploring environmental causes of disease. Research is particularly focused on developing untargeted metabolomics/exposomics technologies in novel matrices for measuring early life exposures. The facility currently houses state-of-the-art Orbitrap and QTOF platforms and has plans to strengthen its technology base further
You will be an integral part of the Metabolomics team, advancing the research and service projects central to our laboratory. You will be the primary operator for an LC-HRMS instrument, performing instrument maintenance, method development, data acquisition of research and service samples, data processing, and report writing. As a team member, you will be expected to participate in lab meetings and research discussions- planning upcoming projects and new research directions- as well as contribute to publications.
As the ideal candidate, you must have at least a PhD in metabolomics, analytical chemistry, biochemistry, or other environmental health related field or an MSc and equivalent experience in a research laboratory. You must also have strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to independently meet project timelines.
The Metabolomics team is part of the Senator Frank R. Lautenberg Environmental Health Sciences Laboratory in the Department of Environmental Medicine and Public Health at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. Our laboratory is located next to Central Park in New York City in the Icahn School of Medicine and is affiliated with the Mount Sinai Health System, the largest health care provider in New York. The Department of Environmental Medicine and Public Health also includes the new Institute for Exposomic Research, the first in the world focused on exposomics. The team-science approach in this department provides opportunities to co-author publications with leading collaborators.
