We are seeking a Postdoctoral Scientist to join our laboratory at The Research Institute at Nationwide Children’s Hospital. We are investigating HSV vectors as a therapy for nervous system tumors. Our studies focus on host-virus interactions in malignant and non-malignant cells and how this influences viral replication and the host immune response. Active projects include (1) Modifying antiviral and metabolic pathways to improve viral anti-tumor effect (2) virus construction and modifications to improve the anti-tumor response. (3) Delineating the role of direct viral lysis and immune mediated anti-tumor activity in oncolytic virotherapy. We utilize in-vitro cell culture-based systems and animal models for translational studies. In the ensuing years we will have patient related samples as our virus proceeds to clinical trial. Creative, highly motivated individuals with a PhD in a relevant area (immunology, tumor biology, virology, cell biology), are encouraged to apply. Experience with immunology assays (flow cytometry, functional assessments, depletion and adoptive transfer) and mouse-based studies (tumor implantation, IP and IT tumor injections) is a plus.
