The Department Locally Sensitive and Time-Resolved Spectroscopy is looking for


Postdoctoral Scientist (f/m/d) in the field of Physics, Engineering or equivalent


Tasks



  • Enhancement of a high-repetition-rate, high-average-power Yb:YAG disk laser and few-optical-cycle, 100-µJ-level near infrared OPCPA laser system

  • Development of a few-optical-cycle, high-repetition-rate, mJ-level infrared OPCPA laser beam line

  • Application of the developed laser beam line to produce an ultrashort pulse, high-flux, soft X-ray source for condensed-phase, time-resolved spectroscopy applications

  • Regular maintenance and characterisation of the LIDUX Labroatory laser system

  • Scientific work within a clean room environment

  • Communication of results in peer-reviewed journals

Requirements

  • Completed PhD in Physics, Engineering or equivalent
  • Extensive experience with non-linear optics and the design, maintenance, operation, and characterisation of ultrashort pulse, high-power laser systems
  • Demonstrable experience with optical parametric amplifiers and the generation, characterisation, and delivery of few-optical cycle laser pulses
  • At least three years of practical laser laboratory experience
  • Experience in publishing scientific results
  • Ability to work in a team and a high level of self-reliance are a must
  • Excellent English language skills
