Postdoctoral researcher in non-coding RNAs
A postdoctoral scholarship is available immediately to study nuclear non-coding RNAs in the Sarshad lab (https://biomedicine.gu.se/ominst/avd/medkem/forskare/aishe-sarshad) at the Department of Medical Biochemistry and Cell Biology, Institute of Biomedicine at the University of Gothenburg.
The researcher will work on a project aimed at better understanding the role of non-coding microRNAs and cofactors in the cell nucleus. In particular, the candidate will work on assessing the importance and molecular relevance of microRNA/cofactors in the nucleus of embryonic stem cells and in cancer systems.
We are looking for a highly motivated individual with a recent PhD in molecular biology, biochemistry or in an equivalent field. The candidate should have a proven track record of successful scientific work and research experience working with small RNAs.
Essential skills include ability to work with cell cultures. Experience with stem cells is a bonus. The candidate should have experience in biochemical and molecular techniques such as western blotting, PCR, gel electrophorese, cloning and transfections.
The successful candidate is expected to be highly motivated, capable to plan and execute experiments independently and to actively contribute scientifically to the group. Fluency in spoken and written English is essential.
Funding is in the form of a tax-exempt scholarship. The funding is provided by Carl Tryggers Foundation for a maximum of two years, with possibility for extension on complete salary scheme.
