Postdoctoral Researcher in Medicinal Bioinorganic Chemistry

University of Southern Denmark (SDU)

Odense M, Denmark

The Department of Physics, Chemistry and Pharmacy at the University of Southern Denmark invites applications for a postdoc in synthetic chemistry to work on a collaborative project on the development of new cancer theranostics using Auger electron and photon-emitting antimony and cobalt isotope pairs. The project is funded by the NovoNordisk Foundation. The position is available from earliest April 2020, initially for one year, with the possibility of extension.

Biocompatible chelating ligands will be designed and synthesized and their complexes with Sb and Co characterized. The complexes will be conjugated with moieties for selectively targeting the DNA in cancer cells. In collaboration with the Department of Nuclear Medicine at Odense University Hospital the complexes will be tested in cell models. Experience, particularly in Sb chemistry will be an advantage.

24 March 2020.
