Role: Postdoctoral Researcher
Contract: Fixed term until December 2022
Hours: Full time (35 hours per week)
We are seeking a motivated and creative Postdoctoral Research Assistant to elucidate the molecular mechanisms by which the microtubule cytoskeleton sets up and maintains neuronal organisation and function. This work is funded by the Medical Research Council, UK, and will be undertaken as part of the research team led by Prof Carolyn Moores. You will be involved in both molecular and cellular structure determination of microtubule-based machinery using cryo-electron microscopy and cryo-electron tomography. This work presents unique opportunities to gain insight into mechanisms of regulation of the microtubule cytoskeleton and to dissect the molecular basis of human disease. You will be a member of a team working on regulatory mechanisms of cytoskeleton dynamics (Professor Carolyn Moores -Department of Biological Sciences ) and will interact with members of the Institute of Structural and Molecular Biology (ISMB) Electron Microscopy group (www.ismb.lon.ac.uk/electron-microscopy). The programme of research also involves collaboration with several international teams.
Applicants should have a PhD in structural biology, biochemistry or a related area, and have relevant research publications.
Grade 7 of the College’s London Pay Scale which is £38,594 rising to £44,113 per annum.
The salary quoted is on the College’s London Pay Scale which includes a consolidated Weighting/Allowance which applies only to staff whose normal contractual place of work is in the Greater London area.
