Postdoctoral Research Scientist
Fixed Term, 3 years
£35,859 – £38,700 pa inclusive
The Sarkisyan and Brown labs are looking for a scientist to lead a joint project aimed at the development of a novel drug screening pipeline.
We are two neighboring labs located on the same floor of the London Institute of Medical Sciences (MRC & Imperial College London). We love high-throughput assays, automation, light-based biotechnologies, machine learning and imaging, and are equally interested in fundamental and applied topics. Our projects range from the development of new protein engineering and imaging tools to studying ecology and evolution.
The offered project aims to create and validate a novel drug development pipeline that will allow high-throughput delivery and screening of molecules in behaving animals (C. elegans) at the throughput of thousands of animals per compound and thousands of compounds per week. The pipeline will rely on libraries of molecules produced in bacteria and will generate rich behavioural datasets pre-processed by the existing machine learning tools developed by the Brown group. You will be expected to participate in the design of the project and to perform library preparation, screening and data analysis, with guidance provided by team members of both labs.
Here are some keywords related to this project:
synthetic biology, bacteria, C.elegans, automation, drug screening, metabolomics, DNA assembly, gene libraries, next generation sequencing, directed evolution, imaging, protein expression
This is an MRC Postdoctoral Scientist position providing training and development supporting post-doctoral scientists in early or changed career paths helping establish them as successful research scientists in their chosen field.
