Starting salary is £32,200 per annum to £36,500 per annum
(depending on experience)

The Babraham Institute is a charity which is world renowned for its research in life sciences to enhance lives and improve wellbeing.

We are seeking an experienced, highly motivated Postdoctoral Research Scientist to work in the core funded Mass Spectrometry Facility.

Work will principally involve protein identification and quantitation projects, (including post-translational modifications), employing label free, SILAC, isobaric labelling, and targeted (MRM) approaches. You may also have the opportunity to be involved in, the emerging area of DNA/RNA modification analysis by mass spectrometry, and to develop novel mass spectrometric methods.

You will be encouraged to play an active role in the future direction and development of the facility, and will have the opportunity to publish in high-quality journals, present your work at scientific conferences, and attend training courses.

The successful candidate will have a PhD in (bio)chemistry (or equivalent experience) with a strong analytical focus, and significant experience in biomolecule analysis by LC-MS/MS, ideally using Orbitrap mass spectrometers. Experience in the analysis of proteins by mass spectrometry would be an advantage. Strong problem solving skills and attention to detail are also important.

This is a limited term appointment with funding for this post expected to be available for a period of two years in the first instance.
