Bioinformatics, Genomics, and Personalized Medicine in Kidney Cancer
A postdoctoral research scholar position is available in the Brugarolas lab for a highly motivated individual to study the genomics of kidney cancer. The selected individual will have the opportunity to lead analyses leveraging an extraordinary platform of genomic datasets from a wide variety of sources including patients, tumorgrafts, and the first genetically engineered mouse models reproducing the disease in humans. With over 1,500 original whole exome sequencing and RNAseq datasets, and a self-updating database linking these data to structured patient data automatically extracted from the electronic medical record using i2b2 for 3,000 patients, the finalist will have unique opportunities to make significant discoveries and contributions to the field. The Brugarolas lab is also the hub of a prestigious Specialized Program of Research Excellence (SPORE). More information at www.utsouthwestern.edu/kidneycancer.
Candidates should be in the last year of their doctoral studies or within 6 months of a Ph.D. degree. Their Ph.D. should be in statistical genetics, bioinformatics, computer science, or a related field. Programming experience using Python, Perl, Java, or C/C++ and familiarity with tools such as R/Bioconductor or Matlab are essential. A track record of productivity and high-impact publications in genomics is expected. Successful applicants will have the opportunity to work in a translational research program involving not only researchers, but also physicians, clinical investigators, and geneticists.
Interested candidates should send a CV and a personal statement explaining their interest in the program to:
