A postdoctoral position is available at the Department of Cell, Developmental, and Regenerative Biology at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine to study the transcriptional regulation of gene expression during erythropoiesis (https://labs.icahn.mssm.edu/biekerlab/).
We use biochemical, molecular, cellular, and developmental approaches to illuminate transcriptional and epigenetic controls that lead to regulated erythroid gene expression. Our focus is on both progenitors and late red cell stages, and in determining whether select transcription factor mutations are causative for aberrant or malignant mammalian hematology.
A strong background in developmental, stem cell, and/or erythroid biology, and experience in mammalian cell culture, molecular biology manipulations, biotechnology, and/or biochemistry are highly desirable.
