Two Postdoctoral Research Associate positions in the Liu lab and Texas A&M Drug Discovery Laboratory at Texas A&M University are available for highly motivated, creative individuals with strong interests in chemical immunology and translational drug discovery. Selected candidates are expected to start immediately.
Position 1: Developing novel chimeric antigen receptor-T cell therapy. Job responsibilities include the engineering of T cells that allows the use of chemical biology methods for controllable chimeric antigen receptor expression. A strong background in cell biology or molecular biology is designed.
Position 2: Phage-displayed based drug discovery. Liu group has recently merged the phage display and genetic code expansion techniques to introduce noncanonical amino acids into phage displayed peptides for expanding library diversities. Highly potent and selective HDAC inhibitors have been selected from these novel libraries. We will expand this project by incorporating novel noncanonical amino acids into phage displayed peptide libraries and selecting potent ligands for diverse targets.
Environment in Texas A&M University is perfect for doing chemical biology research. The Liu lab and Texas A&M Drug Discovery Center will be relocated to a newly renovated, modernized floor in the West Wing of Chemistry Building.
To qualify the job, the successful applicant needs to have a PhD degree in a related field and a record of outstanding scholarly achievement as evidenced by publications. Strong communication (written and oral) skills is necessary.
