Postdoctoral Research Associate Position
Applications are invited for a postdoctoral researcher position in the group of Prof. Kumar Varoon Agrawal in the Institute of Chemical Sciences & Engineering (ISIC) at Ecole Polytechnique Federale de Lausanne (EPFL). The details of the group are at https://www.epfl.ch/labs/las/
The PI, Prof. Kumar Varoon Agrawal, has a proven track record in solving synthesis, processing, characterization of host-guest interaction, and device fabrication challenges in the field of material chemistry and engineering and molecular separations evident by a number of high-impact publications in last two years (Energy & Environmental Sciences 2019, Science Advances 2019, Advanced Materials 2019, Nature Communications 2018, Advanced Functional Materials 2018), and several high-impact first-author publications during his training (Nature Nanotechnology 2017, Advanced Materials 2015, Science 2011). We have one of the best research infrastructures for material characterization including a state-of-the-art low-temperature scanning probe microscope (in our lab), in house X-ray diffraction facility (4), XPS, Raman, NMR, Mass specs, etc. Further, the EPFL campus has one of the best microscopy facilities including an aberration-corrected transmission electron microscope.
The role and the ideal candidate:
The project and the position are quite open ended focusing on material design and characterization for molecular separation.
1. The ideal candidates should have recently obtained a PhD in chemical engineering/chemistry/material science.
2. They should possess a strong interest in solving problems related to material chemistry and characterization, have achieved demonstrable scientific success in previous roles.
3. The candidate must be proficient in written and spoken English.
4. Prior experience in electrochemistry or HRTEM or LT SPM would be a bonus.
Salary on appointment will be CHF 81,900 per annum or higher depending upon qualifications. The initial contract will be for a period of one year, extendible up to three years. The position is funded by European Research Council (ERC) grant.
Send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org with a cover letter and CV which should include a detailed educational background, publication record, awards, presentations, and references. The subject of email should be postdoctoral_position@ERC.
