Postdoctoral Research Associate in Translational Oncology at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine Comprehensive Cancer Center

 

A unique translational cancer research training opportunity is available in Dr. Kishore Guda’s laboratory at the NCI-designated Case Western Reserve University (CWRU) Comprehensive Cancer Center in the area of esophageal malignancies. The motivated research associate will also be working in close collaboration with a multi-investigator team consisting of clinicians and basic scientists within the CWRU GI Specialized Program of Research Excellence (SPORE) and Barrett’s esophagus Translational Research Network (BETRNet) programs, and will be an integral member of the GI cancer genetics program at CWRU comprehensive cancer center.   Specifically, the candidate will be working towards characterizing novel molecular drivers in aggressive gastrointestinal malignancies. The candidate will be responsible for designing and executing functional assays using in vivo and in vitro model systems, and will be involved in writing manuscripts for peer-reviewed journals, preparing for oral presentations at various meetings, and providing assistance with writing grant proposals. 

 

Requirements

Candidate must have a strong fundamental knowledge in cancer biology/genetics, and hands-on expertise in the generation, maintenance, and interrogation of transgenic mouse models and xenograft models.  In addition, candidates must have hands-on expertise in molecular techniques routinely used in cancer research such as cell culture, DNA/RNA/protein assessments, in vitro functional assays etc. Qualified applicants must hold a doctoral (Ph.D) degree in biomedical sciences with sub-specialties in any of Genetics, Cell Biology, Cancer Biology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Pharmacology, Biotechnology or in other relevant fields. Candidates who graduate in 2019, or recent graduates with less than 2 years of prior postdoctoral experience will be primarily considered.
