Postdoctoral Research Assistant
Salary: £33,615 per annum
Applications are invited to work with Dr Pradeepa Madapura as a Postdoctoral Research Assistant in the Blizard Institute, Queen Mary University of London. The Blizard Institute is the largest institute of Barts and the London School of Medicine and Dentistry and aims to deliver excellence in all aspects of research, teaching and clinical service.
Dr Madapura’s group investigates the role of transcriptional enhancers in tissue-specific gene expression, with a focus on the human neuronal differentiation system and its alterations in neurodevelopmental disorders. We use cutting-edge functional genomics approaches to investigate how distal enhancers regulate genes and role of specific histone acetylations on enhancer function, with the aim of deciphering specific role of each histone acetylation complexes in tissue specific enhancer activity. The post-holder will play a key role in obtaining these datasets and investigating key candidate elements in human pluripotent stem cells and neuronal differentiation models. The data generated will provide the basis for follow-up functional studies, including using genome and epigenome editing methods to investigate the specific function of histone acetyl transferases and candidate enhancer elements.
