Advertisement for a Post-doctoral position
The laboratory of Dr. Kassiri (www.kassirilab.com) has a position available for a driven and enthusiastic post-doctoral fellow. Our lab studies tissue remodeling, with a focus on extracellular matrix (ECM) and tissue remodeling in different cardiovascular disease models (aortic aneurysm, atherosclerosis, myocardial infarction, hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, hypertension, etc). The successful applicant will lead a project studying the role of proteases (Disintegrin and metalloproteinases) in atherosclerosis and vascular remodeling, using genetic models of inducible cell-specific gene deletion. Experience in atherosclerosis characterization, immunofluorescent staining and imaging, primary cell culture, as well as routine lab techniques (protein and RNA extraction, western blotting, etc.) will be an asset. This project will utilize both animal and human specimens.
The Kassiri Lab is in the Department of Physiology, University of Alberta (Edmonton, Alberta, Canada), and is very well equipped to conduct various animal studies, imaging, biochemical, molecular and cellular analyses. The genetic models are already established and all techniques and equipment are in place allowing for a rapid start and progress of this project.
Applicants should have completed their PhD within the last 3 years. Interested candidates can email their curriculum vitae (CV) to Dr. Kassiri (email@example.com). This should include complete details of academic record, publications, a statement of personal research goals, and the names of three references who can be contact.
