Duties include implementation and development of novel MRI protocols, maintenance of the small animal MR systems, MR scanning for collaboration partners, organization of collaborations, data analysis, supervision of projects, consulting project partners, and support of multimodal imaging projects. Technical assistance for routine MRI scans and animal handling is available.

The position is part of a core unit for small animal imaging jointly funded by the faculty on Medicine Münster and the interdisciplinary center for clinical research (IZKF) Münster. The successful candidate will be encouraged to develop his/her own research projects and acquire own funding.

Applicants are expected to have completed a PhD in the field of small animal imaging or MRI. Profound experience with small animal MRI, sequence programming, data analysis and with operating Bruker MRI scanners under Paravision is mandatory. The successful candidate will be devoted to science and integrate in a dynamic interdisciplinary team.

The experimental MR group has a focus on neuroimaging, imaging of infections, cell tracking by MRI and multimodal imaging. Collaboration partners represent all major disciplines of biomedical research. Established links exist into several collaborative research centers (SFBs) and into the Cells in Motion lnterfaculty Center.

Available instrumentation:

9.4 T MRI system (Biospec with cryoprobe), 3 T MRI with mouse and rat coils, PET/MR scanner, RF laboratory, mouse facility, microbiology and biochemical lab, compute server for data analysis and simulations.

Access to instrumentation in other groups: fluorescence reflectance imaging system (with X-ray), fluorescence tomography, bioluminescence, ultrasound, photoacoustic, small animal PET and small animal Micro-CT.
