Area of research:
The RSYN research group focuses on characterizing and harnessing CRISPR-Cas systems toward better understanding, diagnosing, and treating human infections. The postdoc will participate on an active DARPA project developing countermeasures against CRISPR-based gene drives. The project involves developing various RNA-based countermeasure strategies to inhibit CRISPR nucleases and validating these strategies in cell-free systems, bacteria, and yeast. The project also involves a close collaboration implementing these strategies in mosquitos.
PhD or equivalent in biology, microbiology, genomics, engineering, or a related field Highly motivated and independent Strong written and spoken English language communication skills
Desired (non-essential) background:
Previous experience in synthetic biology, yeast genetics, CRISPR technologies, and/or RNA design Familiar with advanced cloning techniques (e.g. Golden Gate assembly, Gibson assembly)
We offer compensation according to TVöD and varied activities on an international team. The hiring is through the Helmholtz Center for Infection Research GmbH in Braunschweig.
