Postdoctoral Fellowship (Translational Cardiovascular Medicine)
There is an opening for a postdoctoral fellow in our research group. I am a Cardiologist and Clinician-Scientist and we are studying the role of various aspects of the heart failure phenotype including signaling pathways, Ca2+ cycling, cardiomyocyte contractility and electrophysiology. We are also studying cells and tissue obtained from explanted failing human hearts obtained at the Mazankowski Alberta Heart Institute and we currently have new drugs targeting the apelin pathway as treatment for heart failure (apelin analogs; https://pearkotherapeutics.com). There is also access, through the Cardiovascular Research Centre to core facilities for high resolution imaging and molecular biology. The stipend will start at $45,000 per year. Successful applicants will have completed their PhD within the last 3 years, and should have a publication list and academic record which is competitive for external fellowship awards.
Applicants should email their curriculum vitae to Dr. Gavin Y. Oudit at firstname.lastname@example.org; our website is https://www.ualberta.ca/department-of-medicine/oudit. This should include complete details of academic record, publications, a statement of personal research goals, and the names of two referees whom we may contact for further details.
