Post-Doctoral Fellowship in Tumor Metastasis Research and Glycobiology
The Schatton and Barthel laboratories in the Department of Dermatology at Brigham and Women’s Hospital (BWH) in Boston are seeking a PhD trained in cancer research and/or glycobiology for a funded post-doctoral fellowship in basic and translational metastasis research.
Our laboratories jointly investigate integrin- and glycan-mediated mechanisms of skin cancer progression. Research is both basic and translational. We work with established cell lines, human specimens, and mouse models of melanoma. Our research utilizes traditional molecular and cellular biological, biochemical, and glycobiological techniques, as well as novel technologies (ex. tandem glyco MS, glycometabolic perturbations, and single cell RNA sequencing).
Highly-motivated candidates with a Ph.D. or M.D./Ph.D. in tumor biology and/or glycobiology or a closely related field are welcome to apply. Applicants should possess strong laboratory, analytical, interpersonal and communication skills. Candidates with previous experience in molecular biology, biochemistry, and/or glycobiological techniques as well as mouse modeling/handling are highly desirable. Candidates should be scientifically curious and capable of working independently. The fellow would be expected to present/attend national scientific conferences and draft research manuscripts of their findings, and would be encouraged to apply for independent funding.
The BWH Department of Dermatology is located in the Longwood Medical Area, which contains ten major institutions, including research-oriented hospitals and research institutes, Harvard Medical School, and the Harvard School of Public Health, providing a rich training environment.
This position is available immediately, though start date is flexible. Interested candidates should email a brief cover letter indicating their research interests, experience and career goals, CV, and contact information for 3 references to:
