“Epigenetics of the cardiovascular system”

The Vascular Research Centre is seeking highly talented candidates to facilitate our research in cardiovascular epigenetics. The institute is part of the German Centre for Cardiovascular Research (DZHK), the DFG Excellence Cluster (EXC2026) Cardiopulmonary Institute (CPI) and the DFG Collaborative Research Centers SFB 815, SFB 834 and SFB 1039 as well as the DFG transregio TRR 267 “non-coding RNAs in the cardiovascular system”. The institute has a strong focus on epigenetic regulation and mechanisms in the cardiovascular system during development and disease. We are a highly interactive, dynamic team in an interdisciplinary research environment. We offer access to cutting edge technologies, training opportunities in cardiovascular physiology, animal models, molecular biology, bioinformatic analysis and epigenetic techniques.

The projects focus on the epigenetic regulation of the cardiovascular system by non-coding RNAs and histone-modifying enzymes. We are specifically interested in 3D-chromatin structure, long range interactions within the nucleus and the role of phase separation as novel mechanism of epigenic mechanism of gene expression control. The projects employ next generation sequencing (NGS) methods to study chromatin conformation (Hi-C), histone modifications (ChIP-seq) as well as gene expression (RNA-seq) and different capture technologies in experimental cardiovascular cell and animal models. Furthermore, CRISPR-based functional genomics will be combined with single cell technology to prove the functional relevance of regulatory regions. Animal disease models will be applied to show the disease relevance of lncRNAs, chromatin interactions and nuclear organization.

We are searching for a highly motivated Researcher who has a strong interest in epigenetics and application of new technologies. Applicants must hold a PhD and must have published at least one high quality publication on the subject. While knowledge of the German language is an advantage it is not mandatory, excellent written and spoken English skills are required.

Please submit your application containing C.V., photo, short description of research experience, certificates and interests, as well as references and your publication list by email to Dr. Pamela Finsterseifer, jobs@vrc.uni-frankfurt.de. Inquires can be directed to the same address or by phone to our human resources coordinator Dr. Pamela Finsterseifer (Phone: +49-69-6301-6049).
