Genomics Working Group of the Italian Alliance Against Cancer (ACC) network of Research Hospitals, based at IEO Milan.

The Genomics working group of the Alleanza contro il Cancro (Alliance Against Cancer, ACC) national network of Research Hospitals is seeking motivated bioinformaticians for two postdoctoral fellowships based at the European Institute of Oncology (IEO) in Milan.

ACC (www.alleanzacontroilcancro.it/en/) is the largest oncology network in Italy (> 4000 researchers, >5000 publications/year, thousands of active clinical trials) with 25 Research Hospitals and other participating institutions, coordinated by the Italian Ministry of Health and devoted to the implementation of a national program of Personalized Oncology. Activities are conducted under the framework of 7 disease-oriented working groups (WG breast, glioblastoma, colon, melanoma, lung, sarcoma, hemathological neoplasms) and 3 cross-disciplinary WG (Genomics, Immuno-Oncology, Pathology and Biobanking). Specifically, the aim of the ACC Genomics WG is to foster the integration of high throughput next generation sequencing in clinical diagnostic workflows, with a particular focus on identifying innovative methodologies that maximize clinically relevant information and provide genomics data interpretation. ACC genomics recently launched multiple projects in which large DNA/RNA sequencing panels are applied to prospectively recruited cancer patients, in collaboration with the disease-oriented WGs. A central dedicated bioinformatic infrastructure has been built, with a network of bioinformaticians from participating institutions. The group periodically meets and works in collaboration to develop dedicated analytical workflows for the projects. ACC leadership includes Dr. Ruggero DeMaria, President (Policlinico Gemelli, Roma); Dr. Pier Giuseppe Pelicci, Scientific Director (IEO, Milan); Dr. Luca Mazzarella, Secretary of the Clinical Genomics and Bioinformatics WG (IEO, Milan).
ACC genomics is seeking postdoctoral fellows with a PhD in a relevant discipline (such as but not limited to biology, physics, mathematics, statistics, medicine, engineering). Experience on cancer genomics is preferred but not essential. Candidates are expected to implement, validate and research on novel analytical pipelines for variant calling and integration of multiple NGS-based data with clinical features in the context of several clinical trials
