The Aghi lab has a postdoctoral position available for projects analyzing unique cells in the GBM microenvironment including non-MDSC neutrophils and fibroblast-like cells and novel strategies to target these cells and reverse the T cell depletion of GBM such as retroviral delivery of immunomodulatory gene circuits or drug screens to identify novel small molecules targeting these cells. Requirements are: (1) recently earned MD and/or PhD degree(s) in areas of the biological sciences relevant to this research (such as biochemistry, bioinformatics, molecular biology, immunology), with no more than 3 years of prior postdoctoral research experience; (2) a strong background in cell biology, molecular biology, immunohistochemistry, flow cytometry, stem cell biology, and rodent work,;(3) multiple first author publications written by the applicant and published or accepted for publication in reputable peer reviewed Pub Med cited journals with impact factors above 4; (4) the ability to write competitive scientific grants that will procure funding for the applicant during the postdoctoral fellowship and allow the candidate to transition to independent positions as academic faculty or within industry within approximately 3 years of starting work; (5) the ability to work long and flexible hours in order to accomplish these goals; (6) fluency in English and the interpersonal skills required to teach junior members of the laboratory; and (7) applicants should be US citizens, permanent residents, or most currently hold a valid US work visa.
