The Center for Vaccines and Immunity at The Research Institute at Nationwide Children’s Hospital (Columbus, OH) has a NIH-funded postdoctoral position available immediately to study the immunity and pathogenesis of Hepatitis C virus (HCV) using new rodent hepacivirus models (Science, PMID: 28706073, Hepatology, PMID: 28859226, and Nature communications, PMID: 30846697). Our project builds on our recent findings that the Rat hepacivirus, like HCV, evades innate and acquired immunity to establish persistence in the liver of infected rats and mice. We now seek to characterize the viral and host determinants of infection outcomes and protective immunity. These studies will use a multidisciplinary approach focused on molecular virology, immunology, and systems biology.
Qualification and skills: Candidates must have a Ph.D. with strong research experience in molecular virology, cell biology, and/or immunology. Highly motivated candidates with a long-term interest in studies of antiviral innate and adaptive immunity are particularly encouraged to apply. To be considered, please email a CV with career goals, a statement of research interest, and the names and contact information for 3 references to Dr. Amit Kapoor (Kapoor.firstname.lastname@example.org).
