The Steinmetz Group is looking for an ambitious postdoctoral fellow to lead a project using wearable technologies to monitor health and diagnose disease. eHealth and the availability of devices for remote patient monitoring (RPM) are revolutionizing the practice and availability of medicine. Together with the German Network for Mitochondrial Disorders (mitoNET), the Steinmetz Group has initiated a project aimed at improving the diagnosis and stratification of mitochondrial diseases using non-invasive, wearable biosensors (mitoWEAR).
mitoWEAR is a first-of-its-kind mitochondrial eHealth project. The postdoctoral fellow will be responsible for all aspects of project design and implementation. S/he will work closely with clinicians to select patients, implement robust protocols for device dissemination and data collection and analyze the resulting data. S/he will join a highly collaborative and diverse team of researchers and clinicians located across Germany who are committed to improving diagnostics, therapy and care in mitochondrial and other rare disorders (www.mitonet.org/netzwerk/projekte/). S/he will lead all aspects of a multidisciplinary project that will require a broad background and desire to adapt and quickly learn new skills.
Candidates should have an M.D./Ph.D in a relevant field with experience in clinical studies/trials, data science and/or statistics. Successful applicants will have a strong track record leading independent research projects. Previous clinical research experience is highly desired. The appointed candidate will be capable of building and maintaining strong professional relationships with clinics and collaborators located across Germany. Excellent communication skills and fluency in written and verbal English are essential. Given that communication with German healthcare providers is a critical aspect of this project, strong written and verbal command of German is also highly desired.
