We are seeking passionate scientists who are excited to harness the power of transformative genomic technologies for public health. Specifically, we are developing new algorithms to analyse information-rich signal and sequence data from portable nanopore DNA sequencers. There are several ongoing projects and collaborations in the lab with applications to antibiotic resistance surveillance, microbiome research and synthetic biology. Successful candidates will have the opportunity to work in a highly inter-disciplinary environment, with access to unique large datasets, and a focus on applying cutting edge signal processing techniques for achieving breakthrough discoveries that advance human health and well-being.
The Nagarajan Lab is based in the Genome Institute of Singapore (GIS) which is the national flagship program for genomic sciences in Singapore with a mission to use genomics to improve public health and national prosperity. Singapore is a highly cosmopolitan city-state at the cross-roads of Asia with one of the highest standards of living in the world. The GIS provides an internationally competitive remuneration package and relocation assistance.
Contract duration: 2 years
• PhD in Computational Biology/Computer Science/Electrical Engineering/Genomics
• Strong analytical and programming skills (C/C++, Perl/Python, UNIX environment). Candidates with significant experience in developing sequence analysis algorithms will be strongly preferred.
