Postdoctoral Fellow – Cancer Drug Combinations
Salary range £31,897 – £39,240 (dependent on experience) plus excellent benefits

The Garnett lab is seeking a postdoctoral scientist to use CRISPR-Cas9 screening to identify combination targets for cancer.
Many cancer patients have tumours with resistance to standard of care therapy or have amolecular context that is not addressed by current treatments. Combination therapies aimed at inhibiting multiple targets or cancer pathways can combat resistance and exploit new actionable dependencies in defined genetic contexts. The aim of this study is to exploit the power of large-scale CRISPR screening in cancer cell lines to identify and investigate new target combination for cancer.
A postdoctoral position is available in the Garnett lab as part of a collaborative research team. You will develop dual-knockout CRISPR-based screening approaches and lead efforts to experimentally evaluate combination targets.
This project forms part of the Open Targets collaboration, a private-public partnership between academia and industry, including the Sanger Institute, the European Bioinformatics Institute (EBI: Petsalaki lab), European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL: Zaugg lab) and pharmaceutical companies as part of the Open Targets community.
You have experience using CRISPR and CRISPR-based screening methods, strong molecular biology and tissue culture skills, and have a knowledge of cancer biology and therapeutics.
You will be team players, have excellent organizational skills, and strong verbal and written communications skills, as well as a proven track record of productivity. Postdoctoral fellows are typically in their first or second postdoctoral position as part of a period of early career research training. The position is initially for a 3-year fixed term.

• PhD in cancer biology, cancer therapeutics, molecular biology, or related discipline
• Excellent communication, organisational and presentation skills
