About This Position
The Department of Surgery at the University of Miami, Miller School of Medicine, has an exciting opportunity for a Postdoctoral Associate. This position will perform laboratory responsibilities related to the assigned projects that include cell culture, cell biology, biochemistry and molecular biology related to cancer biology. The Postdoctoral Associate will schedule and perform experiments in research laboratory. This position may need to develop, adopt and implement new lab procedures as well as assist in the preparation of data and figures for manuscripts and for scientific presentations using PowerPoint and other graphics software as needed. This includes presenting data in laboratory meetings and other venues. Also prepares manuscripts for publication in collaboration with University of Miami Faculty and staff. Ensures and documents laboratory adherence to safety standards, especially in the use of hazardous items. Assists with the implementation of new program and initiatives. The Postdoctoral Associate will also perform routine laboratory maintenance responsibilities like performing mouse genotyping, ordering and restocking supplies.
Ph.D. or other doctoral degree in a science related field or M.D. Ability to troubleshoot research projects both at the scientific and technical levels, interpret and analyze experimental data and maintain accurate records. Ability to establish animal models related to assigned projects in full compliance with University of Miami regulations. Ability to perform comprehensive literature survey in order to successfully perform experiments assigned in the research project. Skill in collecting, organizing, and analyzing data. Ability to recognize, analyze, and solve a variety of problems. Ability to exercise sound judgment in making critical decisions.
