Center for Genomics and Systems Biology (CGSB)
NYU Abu Dhabi
The Center for Genomics and Systems Biology (CGSB) at New York University Abu Dhabi (NYUAD) invites applications from individuals to be appointed as a Research Scientist. The position is for a postdoctoral researcher on a project that explores plant cell responses to fungal symbionts that provide drought and stress protection to crops. The project will be based at NYU Abu Dhabi and will be supervised by Dr. Kenneth Birnbaum.
The anticipated appointment is expected to start, preferably, on Sep. 1, 2019, for a period of two years, with a possibility of extension. The successful applicant will perform novel analysis on single-cell RNA-seq data generating from maize, sorghum, and Setaria as they respond to fungal symbionts that alter cell states. The work will entail the adaptation of existing single-cell RNA-seq programs and the development of new programs to compare cellular responses across the three species.
Applicants must have a Ph.D in computational biology or a related field. Excellent communication skills in English are an important consideration, as the job entails a great deal of interaction, including Skype meetings, with collaborators in several different countries.
The terms of employment include highly competitive salary, housing allowance, and other benefits. Applications are accepted immediately and candidates will be considered until the position is filled.
