The Liu Lab at HHMI Janelia is looking for a postdoctoral researcher to lead projects that investigate gene regulation mechanism in animal development as well as in disease models. The lab uses cutting-edge imaging techniques combined with advanced genomics and genetic perturbations to decode functional links between gene expression, transcription factor dynamics and genome organization. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Design novel imaging and genomic assays to probe gene regulation in cell culture and in vivo

  • Explore and analyze resulting data with data science techniques

  • Participate in collaborative projects with imaging tool builders and computational researchers



  • Ph.D. degree in genetics, genomics, molecular biology, neurosciences or related disciplines

Skills and Abilities

  • Experience with cell biology or mouse genetics 

  • Experience with basic imaging techniques

  • Optional: Experience with genomic assays (e.g. ChIP-seq, RNA-seq or Hi-C)

  • Proficiency with data analysis skills

  • Skills to manage and support interdisciplinary collaborations

  • Ability to work collaboratively

Physical Requirements:

Remaining in a normal seated or standing position for extended periods of time; reaching and grasping by extending hand(s) or arm(s); dexterity to manipulate objects with fingers, for example using a keyboard; communication skills using the spoken word; ability to see and hear within normal parameters; ability to move about workspace. The position requires mobility, including the ability to move materials weighing up to several pounds (such as a laptop computer or tablet).
